Over the years many many of us have come across small fires within Park Wood.

These have usually been isolated events and with one or two exceptions of little adverse impact. However in the past few days there has been a series of fires - we are aware of seven - most of them being harmless albeit unsightly.

Two fires along the London Road frontage have however resulted in visits from the fire brigade, another had the potential to cause serious damage to one of the wonderful beech trees, and there has also been evidence of lighted paper being thrown into the undergrowth.

The police have been notified of the events. Please email us if you have any information which might prove useful to them and we will forward this on to them.

Work Days

October Work Day

After a long Summer during which all activity in Park Wood was suspended (apart from the regular litter picking and bin emptying) we have at last been able to hold a Work Day in Park Wood.  Thank you to all those who turned up to help on Sunday 25th, despite the unsettled weather.  With a few extra rules to enable safe working and complying with the Woodland Trust's advice about social distancing, we were all glad to have the opportunity to meet up again and see what jobs could be done.

Hopefully we will be back again at the end of November to continue coppicing and begin clearing the ditches.
