Over the years many many of us have come across small fires within Park Wood.

These have usually been isolated events and with one or two exceptions of little adverse impact. However in the past few days there has been a series of fires - we are aware of seven - most of them being harmless albeit unsightly.

Two fires along the London Road frontage have however resulted in visits from the fire brigade, another had the potential to cause serious damage to one of the wonderful beech trees, and there has also been evidence of lighted paper being thrown into the undergrowth.

The police have been notified of the events. Please email us if you have any information which might prove useful to them and we will forward this on to them.

Work Days

The July and August Work Days have been cancelled, so our next opportunity to work in Park Wood will be Sunday 30th September 2018, starting at 10am.  All are welcome to come along and meet our friendly group and help keep the wood such a delightful haven. Light refreshments and all tools provided, but please wear suitable footwear.

AGM - 23rd May 2018

Over 30 people attended the AGM at which Inge Ridley-Jones was warmly thanked for having successfully concluded negotiations with the Woodland Trust which will enable us to continue working in Park Wood. She stood down from the Committee at the conclusion of the meeting, and we welcomed our new Chairman, Pete Hodges, whose first duty will be to sign the Third Party Agreement on our behalf and arrange further meetings with the WT Site Manager.
