Last winter one of our oaks had to be felled but thanks to a donation from Waterlooville Allotments Association, the Friends of Park Wood have been able to commission two new benches to be made from the oak tree trunk.

The first bench has been carved by a local chainsaw artist ‘Edd the Tree Pirate’. It has a bee and honeycomb theme sculptures on the two bench legs to link wildlife and horticulture through the bees as pollinators.

It was great to be able to use the timber from the Oak and give it a new purpose within the wood. Edd has made us a unique bench, which is both practical and beautiful.

We are incredibly grateful to the Waterlooville Allotments Association for their kind donation that made this work of greenwood art possible and visitors to Park Wood will enjoy it for a long time to come.
